Cinnte are a young Irish Traditional group from counties Derry and Tyrone. They formed in late 2008 to launch the first North Coast Folk Festival, Portstewart. They then continued gigging and appeared on the first series of RTÉ’s All Ireland Talent Show. They have recently appeared on the BBC2 NI television show Blas Ceoil, recorded in Bryson’s Bar, Magherafelt. The group also reached the final of the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award 2010, which took place in the BBC Radio Theatre in the Broadcasting House in London on the 4th December 2009. The group have been invited to play at Towersy Village Folk Festival 2010 in England and Cambridge Folk Festival 2010 also in England.

They will also support Irish Traditional Group Téada at a concert in Dun Luiche, Donegal in March. The group are taking part in a cross community charity concert showcasing the local talent run by the Gig’n the Bann, supporting Northern Ireland Hospice and Marie Curie Cancer Care. This will be on the 6th of March 2010.

The group members are Michael Laverty (20) from Bellaghy, Co. Derry, who plays Flute and Whistles, Ciaran Hanna (18) from Derrytresk, Co. Tyrone, playing Concertina, Flute and Whistles, and brothers Emmet (20), Dermot (18) and Fintan (16) Mulholland from Magherafelt, Co. Derry, who between them play Fiddle, Banjo, Guitar, Double Bass, Bodhrán, Bouzouki, Mandolin, Uilleann Pipes, Flute, Whistles, Cajon and Drums. Emmet and Dermot also sing together in the group. The group are in the process of recording their first CD, which will include their own compositions along with traditional tunes and a few songs.

Three members of the band are currently at Queen's University, Belfast. Michael is studying Civil Engineering, Emmet is studying Product Design and Development and Ciaran is studying Quantity Surveying. Dermot is at the University of Ulster, Coleraine, studying Irish Language and Literature and Fintan, the youngest member of the group, is in his GCSE year in St. Mary’s Grammar School, Magherafelt.
